Another Introduction
Hi Owl Room Families,
Now that you have been introduced to the little guy, I thought I should introduce myself also. I am Mrs. Kathleen Veenstra, and I'm so excited to meet all the students from the Owl Room on Tuesday! I have heard WONDERFUL things about this fantastic group of kiddos! Just a few words about me so you know who is spending time with your kids in the next few weeks: I am a wife of Dave and a mother of 4 boys ages 23-16. I taught 1st and 2nd grades before my kids were born and then I taught art, music, drama, and led worship for 13 years at a Homeschool Association called Friday Addition in Zeeland. I also teach piano lessons and am on the worship team at my church Central Wesleyan. Last year I long-term subbed in 1st grade at New Groningen and this year I long-termed in 1st and Kindergarten at Lincoln. Thanks for entrusting your children to me. Please feel free to email me any time with concerns or questions at kveenst1@zps.org
I also noticed that the Owl Room is very very low on snacks, so if you would be out and about and able to bring some peanut-free snacks for the classroom to enjoy, that would be GREAT! Thanks!

Meet Grayson Michael!
Hello Owl Families!
I am writing this post to give you an update!
Grayson Michael was born on Tuesday, February 18th late at night. He came 6 weeks early due to a few complications that came on very quickly. I am slowly recovering and Grayson is doing better and better each day. He is still in the Special Care Nursery in Holland. He will be there until the doctors and nurses see significant weight gain and 100% feeding on his own for a couple days.
Right now, my plan is to be at home with Grayson until the middle of April and then I will be back to finish out the year.
I feel truly blessed to have such good students that will be in great hands until I return. Kathleen Veenstra will be starting on Tuesday, March 4 and will be there until I return. Kathleen has been in the first grade setting multiple times.
Below are pictures of Grayson's first couple of days in the world. Enjoy and share with the owl friends! Give them extra hugs and let them know I miss them and will be back soon!
